Narnack Records is an independent record label, founded in 2002. The label grew organically out of New York and Brooklyn’s underground music scene. It rapidly garnered a reputation for its ability to get new acts on track (Iran, Langhorne Slim, Thee Oh Sees, Hypernova, Restavrant), and is also known for working with established bands, such as the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry, The Fall, Guitar Wolf, and The Slits.
In 2008, the label received it’s first Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album, thanks to a collaboration with producer Andrew W.K. on Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Narnack Records released album Repentance. Special guest appearances from Moby, Don Fleming, Sasha Grey, Aimee Allen, Josh Werner (Matisyahu) and Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt).
Our active roster includes EFG (Electric Flower Group), Garrett Pierce, Iran, Lee “Scratch” Perry, The Slits, and The Sundelles.
“In retrospect, it couldn’t have worked out any better. The Lord provided…Narnack, the record company we’re signed to, sorted us out with a new band. They got in touch with this fellow from LA, this drummer called Orpheo McCord. He, in turn, contacted his mate Rob Barbato, a bass player;and he got in touch with his band-mate and guitarist Tim Presley.”
